Ranginui’s Retreat is located on the southern end of the Ootu peninsular, at the edge of the channel that separates the main island of Aitutaki and Motu Akitua. The property is fairly basic with a swimming pool and a reception/tour desk. It is an appealing choice for those who don’t mind simplicity and are looking for an affordable escape with a comfortable room.
It consists of 12 lovely self contained stand alone units, perfect for small groups or families wanting to stay together. Each one has a glass sliding door that opens out to the balcony to welcome the cool ocean breeze and comes fitted with the basics including hot and cold running water, kitchen with tea & coffee making facilities and a refrigerator as well a private balcony. Air-conditioning is also available at an additional cost.
The Beachfront Bungalow and 2 Bedroom Beachfront Bungalows are great for small families. The units are spacious and have all you need to enjoy a relaxing no frills stay in Aitutaki. A bonus is some of the most spectacular views of the lagoon. The Garden Suites have a similar layout to the Beachfront Bungalows. These rooms can sleep up to 2 people and are great for couples or lone travellers.
The beach and lagoon here is literally breath taking, and nothing short of spectacular beauty. Dotted around the property are picnic tables perfect for taking in the views and ocean breeze. Those wanting to explore the lagoon will find it convenient as the property offers kayaks and is only a few small steps from the beach. Located at the other end of the peninsular is Ootu Bay, where lagoon cruises depart daily.
Ranginui’s is also located within walking distance to many restaurants. The Boatshed Bar & Grill, Koru Café & The Blue Lagoon Restaurant & Bar are all located just a 5-10 minute walk away.
