International air service

Air services are operated to and via the Cook Islands with Air New Zealand and through them all the Star Alliance airlines, with United Airlines on code-share with Air New Zealand, and on Aloha Airlines. You can fly Rarotonga to or from Auckland in New Zealand, Nadi in Fiji, Papeete in French Polynesia, Honolulu and Los Angeles in the USA and Vancouver and Toronto in Canada.


Air Rarotonga - the Cook Islands' airline

Air Rarotonga operates regular scheduled flights from Rarotonga to eight of the other islands in the southern and northern groups. The airline normally employs Brazilian twin-engined prop-jet aircraft, Embraer Bandeirantes.



Departure Tax :

Departure tax is charged on departure for all passengers. The cost is USD 14 (NZD 25) per adult, USD 6 (NZD 10) per child under 12 years of age and free for children under 2 years of age. You may pre purchase departure tax at WESTPAC Bank in town or you can pay on departure at their airport office.



Customs Regulation

No levies charged on clothing or personal effects. You are allowed 200 cigarettes, or 250 grams of Tobacco or 50 cigars and 2 liters of spirits or wine or 4.5 liters of beer. Other goods in excess of USD 140 (NZD 250)are dutiable. Liquor and cigarettes are available for purchase on arrival.
